Vigo's airport is quietly outrunning its own official forecast — a year's projected passengers passed by midsummer — on a map that is proudly Spanish: Madrid above all, the Canaries threaded behind. The city and its working harbour are ten kilometres west, the Rías Baixas are the backyard, and Porto is ninety minutes south. One fixed price, flight tracked, Galicia's coast door to door.
Vigo's airport is having the quietest kind of good year: the official projection drawn up in 2021 allotted Peinador six hundred and forty thousand passengers for the whole of 2026 — and the field passed five hundred and forty-four thousand by June, crossing the full-year figure in midsummer, on the heels of a 2025 that closed at more than 1.1 million, up five per cent. The forecasters bet against Vigo; the passengers didn't.
The map those passengers fly is honestly told: it is Spanish, for now. Madrid is the artery — over seven hundred thousand passengers a year, the route that carries the airport — with Barcelona alongside, the Canaries threaded by Binter, and Iberia's seasonal Palma and Santander summer lines. There is no international route at present, and a page like this says so plainly, because honest pages age better: for long-haul and most of Europe, the region's answer is Porto's airport, ninety minutes south across the border — a run we drive daily in both directions, which is its own kind of route map.
What the airport lacks in destinations, its doorstep repays in geography. Peinador sits ten kilometres east of a city built around a working harbour — the gateway to the Cíes Islands, whose boats leave from Vigo's own waterfront, and the capital of the Rías Baixas, Galicia's seafood-and-albariño coast, which is less an excursion than the catchment itself. Pontevedra's stone old town is half an hour; Baiona's fortress parador guards the bay's mouth; Santiago de Compostela — our Santiago Airport page carries that field — is an hour north. Far point first, return margin kept, one fixed price for the whole car.
And the harbour earns a forward look: Vigo's cruise quay sits in the city centre, a gangway onto the Rúa do Príncipe's shopping mile — our Port of Vigo page carries that side, with flight and ship tracked together on fly-cruise days. The airport the forecasts underestimated, met properly at arrivals.
Yes — the quay sits in the city centre, and our Port of Vigo page carries that side, flight and ship tracked together.

A Spanish map: Madrid above all (the artery), Barcelona on Vueling, Binter to the Canaries, and Iberia's seasonal Palma and Santander. No international route at present — we say it plainly.
The coast is the catchment: Pontevedra, Cambados's albariño country and the beaches string into one fixed-price day, far point first.
Daily — about 90 minutes south across the border, the region's long-haul alternative. One fixed price, both directions.
