Haneda is the airport Tokyo kept for itself: barely 15 km from the centre, with a monorail that reaches Hamamatsucho in about 13 minutes and Keikyu trains running direct to Shinagawa and even Yokohama. By day, the trains are hard to beat — we say so. But Haneda lands flights all night, and the trains do not: the last ones leave around half past midnight and nothing moves again until five. In that gap, and under heavy luggage at any hour, a booked car at a fixed price is the honest answer.
Haneda is the inversion of its distant sibling: where Narita sits a province away in Chiba, Haneda crowds the edge of Tokyo Bay in Ota ward, about 15 km from the centre — the city airport in a region that also has a country one, the same split Seoul travellers know from Gimpo and Incheon. The terminal map has one wrinkle worth a glance before you land. Terminal 1 is domestic, broadly the JAL side; Terminal 2 is domestic on the ANA side — but it also handles some international flights; and Terminal 3 is the main international terminal, with the monorail and Keikyu stations built straight into it. If your ticket says international, do not assume T3: the T2 exception is exactly the kind of small print that decides where your driver should stand.
By day, the rail links deserve their reputation and get it. The Tokyo Monorail skims the bay to Hamamatsucho in as little as 13 minutes; the Keikyu line reaches Shinagawa in about the same, with many trains continuing through the Asakusa subway line — and, in the other direction, running direct to Yokohama in roughly 23 minutes, no crossing of Tokyo required. Limousine buses fan out to the hotel districts in 45–60 minutes. If you land at noon with one bag, take the train; this page will not pretend otherwise. The honest caveat is the clock. Haneda operates around it — flights arrive and depart through the night — but the last monorail leaves around ten past midnight and the last Keikyu about twenty minutes later, and nothing public moves again until about five. A late bank of arrivals meets a four-to-five-hour hole.
That hole is where the pre-booked car earns its keep, because the alternatives all carry an asterisk: night taxis run a surcharge through the small hours and the queue after a late bank can take half an hour of standing; the overnight buses serve only a handful of routes; the airport hotels fill. A fixed-price transfer booked before you fly ignores all of it — the price is the same at 2 a.m. as at 2 p.m., the driver tracks the actual landing time, and the name board is at the right terminal, T3 or T2, before you clear customs. The same logic applies in reverse for the dawn departures Haneda is famous for: when the first train would land you at the terminal with no margin, the car leaves when you need it to.
The destinations are the easy part, because from Haneda everything is close. Shinjuku and Shibuya in half an hour to forty-five minutes by road, Ginza and Tokyo Station nearer still, the bayside Disney resorts a straight run around the water. And Yokohama deserves its own line: for cruise passengers sailing from its piers, Haneda is the right Tokyo airport by a wide margin — we drive it directly, luggage to gangway, in well under an hour on a normal day. One car, one price, and Tokyo's closest runway handled by someone who knows which tunnel is jammed tonight.

About 15 km, at the edge of Tokyo Bay in Ota ward. By road, central districts are typically 20–45 minutes depending on traffic; by rail, Hamamatsucho is about 13 minutes on the monorail.
They are 80-odd km apart. Haneda is the close city airport; Narita is out in Chiba. Check your ticket for each direction — itineraries often mix them.
T1 is domestic (broadly JAL), T2 domestic (broadly ANA) plus some international flights, and T3 is the main international terminal. If you're flying internationally, check whether your flight uses T3 or T2 before arranging a meeting point.
We track your arrival and adjust the pickup automatically. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, at the correct terminal, at no extra charge.
By day, often yes — the monorail and Keikyu are excellent, and Keikyu even runs direct to Yokohama in about 23 minutes. The car wins late at night, at dawn, and whenever the luggage outnumbers the hands.
Yes — Haneda is the natural airport for Yokohama departures: a direct run, usually well under an hour, timed to your ship or hotel check-in.
Haneda receives flights all night, but the last trains leave around 0:10–0:30 and service resumes near 5 a.m. Night taxis carry a surcharge and real queues; a pre-booked car waits on your actual arrival at the same fixed price.
