Kempegowda International sits at Devanahalli, some 35–40 km north of central Bengaluru — and for now there is no metro: the airport rail line is still under construction and is not expected before late 2028. BMTC's blue Vayu Vajra coaches do an honest job on the trunk routes, but the real variable here is traffic. MG Road can take an hour — or well over two, and the tech corridors sit on the far side of the entire city. A booked car with a fixed price turns that uncertainty into a plan.
Bengaluru's airport is far out by design: when it opened at Devanahalli in 2008 it traded the old in-city airfield for room to grow, and the trade was distance — roughly 35–40 km down NH-44 to the centre, past the Hebbal flyover. The distance is fixed; the time is not. Off-peak, MG Road is about an hour away. In the morning and evening crush the same run can take well over two. Terminal-wise, all international flights use the newer Terminal 2 — the 2023 "terminal in a garden" — while IndiGo, Akasa and SpiceJet domestic services mostly use Terminal 1; a free shuttle links the two in about five minutes, but check your boarding pass before you leave, because the split by airline does shift.
Public transport deserves its credit here, because Bengaluru's is better than its reputation. BMTC's Vayu Vajra fleet — blue air-conditioned Volvo coaches with proper luggage racks — runs around two dozen routes from the terminal forecourt, including KIAS-9 to Majestic (Kempegowda bus station) on a near round-the-clock pattern and direct services toward Whitefield and Electronic City roughly every 30–45 minutes. They are comfortable and cheap; they are also buses in Bengaluru traffic, so allow one to three hours depending on the route. There is a railway halt near the airfield, but only a handful of daily trains call there and a shuttle covers the last stretch to the terminals — the timetable rarely matches a flight. The metro you may have read about is real but not ready: the Blue Line's airport section is under construction, currently targeted for around 2028.
That leaves the road, and the road has rules worth knowing. BIAL runs licensed prepaid taxi counters in both arrivals halls, and app cabs collect from designated pickup zones — fine by day, but after the late-evening bank of arrivals the queues lengthen and app prices climb exactly when you have the least patience for them. The sharper trap is geographical: the airport is north of the city, and the jobs are south and east. Whitefield is 50 km away, Electronic City closer to 60, and both runs cross the whole of Bengaluru — 90 minutes on a kind day, up to three hours at peak. If your meeting is in a tech park, the honest advice is to plan the day around the transfer, not the other way round. A pre-booked car cannot repeal the traffic, but it does fix the price before you land and put the routing decisions on a driver who makes this run daily.
Where you end up is the pleasant part. The classic first-timer menu — MG Road, Indiranagar, Koramangala — lies along the city's café-and-brewery spine, and your driver drops you at the door. In the other direction entirely, Nandi Hills rises just beyond the airport: barely half an hour from the terminal, which is why sunrise there is the best-kept layover secret in south India. And Mysuru — palace, market, incense and silk — is a long but rewarding day at roughly three and a half to four hours door to door. One car, one price, and the hardest city traffic in India handled by someone who does it for a living.

About 35–40 km north, at Devanahalli on NH-44. Allow around an hour to MG Road off-peak and well over two hours in the morning or evening rush.
Both sit on the far side of the city: 50–60 km, roughly 90 minutes off-peak and up to three hours at peak. We schedule the pickup around rush hour wherever your flight allows.
Not yet. The Blue Line's airport section is still under construction and is not expected to open before around 2028. Until then it is coaches, taxis or a pre-booked car.
We track your arrival and adjust the pickup automatically. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, at either terminal, at no extra charge.
All international flights use Terminal 2. Domestic services are split by airline — IndiGo, Akasa and SpiceJet mostly at Terminal 1, Air India at Terminal 2 — and a free shuttle links the terminals in about five minutes. Always check your boarding pass.
Yes. Nandi Hills is barely 30 minutes from the airport — a favourite sunrise run — and Mysuru is a full-day trip at about 3.5–4 hours each way, with the car staying with you.
